Custom ROM for Galaxy J7 Pro Android 8.1.0 OREO

How to Flash Custom ROM on Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro Android 8.1.0 Oreo. Base on FireHound-V4.4 ROM Android 8.1.0 OREO. It works for SM-J730GM, SM-J730G and SM-J730F, UNOFFICIAL release 27-04-2018. To install this ROM, your phone need to be installed TWRP Custom Recovery.  Use at your own risk, I’m not responsible for bricking your device.  Update: Android 8.1.0 Oreo Official update for J7 Pro has coming and available for downloading get links on the bottom of this post.Require Tools:

  1. Your phone must be Installed TWRP Recovery.  If not, you can read “How to Flash TWRP on Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro” ignore the rooting session on point 8.
  2. Download FireHound-V4.4[J730GM/G/F][UNOFFICIAL][27-04-2018]
  3. Download GAPPS ( Google Applications ) Recommended to not use Beta versions.

How to Install FireHound ROM and GAPPS Android 8.1.0 OREO on Galaxy J7 Pro :

  1. Enter TWRP Recovery Mode:  Turn power off; Press and hold Volume Up key + Home key, while pressing these keys press and hold Power key.  Release all keys when TWRP Recovery mode appears on the screeen
  2. Select Wipe -> Advanced Wipe: Ticked Dalvik \ Art Cache, Data, System ( Important to do this, if you don’t wipe with this options, you will get boot loop when finish flash the zip files.  If you get boot loop to fix it, you must repeat it again and do this  )
  3. Swipe to Wipe
  4. From Home menu, select Install and point to FireHound-4.4-UNOFFICIAL-20180426-j7y17lte.zip file and then swipe to flash.
  5. From Home menu, select Install and point to open_gapps-arm-8.1-stock-20180524.zip file and then swipe to flash.
  6. Select Reboot to System, on the TWRP Install apps, tab Do not Install.
  7. Wait a moment, it need more times than usual.

If you want to uninstall this custom ROM and back to stock ROM, just flash the stock ROM to your device.  Flashing stock ROM will also uninstall TWRP Recovery and it will back to stock Android Recovery.

Notes / Warning!

  1. Use at your own risk, I’m not responsible for bricking your device.
  2. Using the incorrect file may brick your device.
  3. If your target device has a custom firmware flash counter, Rooting will trigger it. If you’re lucky, Triangle Away has support for your device and can be used to reset the counter.
  4. If you have a KNOX-enabled device,  flash custom rom and Rooting will trip the KNOX WARRANTY VOID status!
  5. If your device storage is encrypted, Rooting will wipe your data !
  6. If you have locked bootloaders, flashing one of these will probably brick your device – with the exception of Nexus devices, which will usually automatically “OEM unlock” and wipe your data !
  7. Make sure to backup your important data before root it.

  1. I tried this on my rooted Galaxy J7 Pro SM-J730G, flashing both your Firehound file and GAapps nano from TWRP. The OS loaded great, but once loaded, the camera wouldn’t stay on, and it would only hook up to the internet by going into the settings and typing in a Static IP address, would not find the connection automatically. Did you experience the same issues? Do you know of other custom ROM’s for this device? Why is there so little out there?? Thank you for your help…

    • Custom ROM does not perfect, there are many bugs as we know the rom developed by individual. I just like test it on my device.. and just want to know bugs of its. I don’t use it for long time, just for a moments.. then I back to the Stock ROM.
