How to Install Android 12 Beta GSI on Samsung Galaxy A50

How to Install Android 12 Beta GSI on Samsung Galaxy A50. Even if you don’t own a compatible Pixel smartphone, you can still install Google’s official GSI binaries to test Android 12, provided your device is compatible with Project Treble. . To install this Custom ROM, your phone must be installed TWRP Custom Recovery. Use at your own risk, I’m not responsible for bricking your device.

Download and Terms

  1. Your phone must be Installed Custom Recovery for Android 10. If not, you can read TWRP Recovery for Samsung Galaxy A50 SM-A505F Android 11
  2. Download gsi_gms_arm64-exp-SPB1.210331.013-7333779-0cf2eba2.zip ( extract it to get system.img file, use 7-zip )
  3. Download Android12_utils.zip ( init.environ.rc, manifest_media_c2_software.xml, Permissiver_v5.zip )
  4. Copy image and utils file to SD Card ( Recommended )

How to Install Android 12 Beta GSI on Samsung Galaxy A50:

  1. Enter TWRP Recovery Mode: Turn power off, Connect the phone with a USB cable, Press and hold Volume Up + Power Key until TWRP Recovery Mode Appears.
  2. Select Wipe – Advanced wipe ( select “Dalvik, Cache, System, data” ) – Swipe to wipe
  3. Select Install – Install Image – system.img – select “System Image” and Swipe to confirm flash
  4. Reboot to Power Off
  5. Enter TWRP Recovery Mode: Turn power off, Connect the phone with a USB cable, Press and hold Volume Up + Power Key until TWRP Recovery Mode Appears.
  6. copy init.environ.rc to /system_root and set permission chmod 755
  7. Delete vendor/overlay folder ( if you can not see it, just mounted vendor )
  8. Install Permissiver_v5.zip
  9. Select Reboot – System
  10. Setup the Phone

Rooting If Necessary

  • Enter TWRP Recovery Mode: Turn power off, Connect the phone with a USB cable to computer, Press and hold Volume Up + Power Key until TWRP Recovery Mode Appears.
  • Install A11_magisk_patch.zip
  • Select Reboot Recovery
  • Connect phone to internet
  • Open Magisk App, it will ask to do additional setups. Let it do its job and the app will automatically reboot your device.

Install GApps if necessary

  • Enter TWRP Recovery Mode: Turn power off, Connect the phone with a USB cable, Press and hold Volume Up + Power Key until TWRP Recovery Mode Appears.
  • Select Wipe – Advanced Wipe ( select “System” ) – Repair or Change File System – Resize File System – Swipe to Resize
  • Select Mount – ( select “System, Vendor” ), Back to home
  • Select Install – select open_gapps-arm64-11.0-nano-20210110-TEST.zip Swipe to confirm Flash
  • Select Reboot – System

If you want to uninstall this custom ROM and back to stock ROM, just flash the stock ROM to your device. Flashing stock ROM will also uninstall TWRP Recovery and it will back to stock Android Recovery.

Notes / Warning!

  1. Use at your own risk, I’m not responsible for bricking your device.
  2. Using the incorrect file may brick your device.
  3. If your target device has a custom firmware flash counter, Rooting will trigger it. If you’re lucky, Triangle Away has support for your device and can be used to reset the counter.
  4. If you have a KNOX-enabled device, flash custom rom and Rooting will trip the KNOX WARRANTY VOID status!
  5. If your device storage is encrypted, Rooting will wipe your data !
  6. If you have locked bootloaders, flashing one of these will probably brick your device – with the exception of Nexus devices, which will usually automatically “OEM unlock” and wipe your data !
  7. Make sure to backup your important data before root it.

  1. I have this installed on a A51 and the audio is always stuck at 100%. When I try to change my volume, it just says that it’s at 0. Any help would be appreciated.

  2. Is it possible to install Android 12 on Note 20 Ultra?
    I tried the instructions from this post, but it does not work.
    Android Logo stays infinitely, it does not boot.
